august 30th

Here are some photos of the hotel room I'm staying in until tomorrow... It's kind of interesting because you open the door with the best key cards I've seen:
and unlike other hotels I've stayed in, you enter a corridor covered in funky wall paper:

To the left is the teeny-tiny bathroom with double doors:

And to the right is the rest of the room:

The bed is very comfortable (especially compared to the cot that I slept - well, attempted to sleep - on last night) and the image of the cello is so random, but I like it :)

But the best part is the view - It's a corner room so there are two windows:

If today, as the first day being in the city by myself, is any gauge... it will be a little difficult getting used to living here. But I know it will get better each day - especially after getting to know the others who are coming tomorrow. I'm really excited to meet everyone! I did run into a girl who is a fellow CS-er in the elevator but I didn't get a chance to catch her name.
The rest of the week is pretty much packed with activities, meetings and interviews so I'm going to relax for the rest of the night while I still can :)

  1. So I've just gotten the chance to finally comment on your blog! Thanks for putting up a blog on your adventures in Chicago! I love reading them!
I hope your time on your own wasn't too bad. It doesn't sound like it was.
